If you haven’t heard about “digital nomads” yet, you’ve surely come across some pictures on social networks of people working with their computers on a deck chair by the sea. Doesn’t it sound like anyone’s dream? We can assure you that it is reality.

In our digital marketing agency we work in this way and we want to tell you more about this alternative. We are 99% sure that you are interested, aren’t you?

Digital nomads are people whose work allows them to use technology to work remotely. This way they enjoy the flexibility of working from anywhere in the world, as long as they have an Internet connection. The rise of this trend is due to the fact that more and more companies are allowing remote work, which provides the opportunity for more people to adopt this lifestyle, Elevate Marketing Agency is one of them :).

At Elevate we have experience in this modality as we are a digital marketing agency based in Buenos Aires, Argentina that works 100% digitally and remotely, so our team is distributed in different parts of Argentina and the world.

In fact, Nomadlist, a technology platform designed to collect data of interest to digital nomads and freelance professionals, conducted a survey that ranked Buenos Aires as the fourth most popular city for digital nomads. Behind Canggu, Bali, Indonesia; Bangkok in Thailand and Lisbon, Portugal, Buenos Aires is number one in Latin America.

Being a digital nomad has its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, you can get to know new cultures and people, and have unique experiences, but it can also be difficult to establish stable and long-lasting relationships, as well as to have a stable work structure.

That’s why we want to give you some recommendations and warnings, from our experience as a marketing agency, if you are thinking of becoming a digital nom

Benefits

  1. Labour flexibility

Let’s start with the obvious, one of the great advantages of being a digital nomad is work flexibility – no more worrying about cancelling plans because of work! You can adjust your schedule to fit in with your personal life, go to the gym, attend classes, or even enjoy a get-together with friends. Plus, by not having to commute to work every day, you save time and money on commuting and work-related expenses.

  1. Get to know new places!

Another great advantage of being a digital nomad is being able to work from anywhere in the world, be it at home, in a café, on a trip, or co-working with your colleagues. This means you are not limited by a traditional workspace and can find inspiration anywhere. And best of all, you can work in your pyjamas!

  1. Broaden your horizons

By working in a remote environment, you can focus on being more creative and innovative in your digital marketing strategies. Having the freedom to work in different locations can inspire you and help you think outside the box.

  1. Keep growing

Finally, working in a remote environment also means having access to continuous learning opportunities. You can learn from colleagues in different parts of the world and develop valuable skills for your career. It’s a great way to keep growing and evolving as a professional.

“Working remotely allows me the freedom to be more creative and efficient in my work. Also, I can study without worrying about university schedules.

Violeta Rodriguez Ares, Community Manager at Elevate Marketing Agency – Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At Elevate we value the freedom and flexibility that remote working offers, as it allows our employees to find a balance between their work and personal lives. We believe this translates into a happier and more productive team, capable of delivering high quality services to our clients around the world.

Warnings

So far it all sounds amazing, but there are a few things we need to keep in mind to make our work more efficient and healthy.

  • Set up a work routine

Establishing a work schedule is very important in order to be more productive and organised. Although you have the flexibility to work from anywhere, you should not be tempted to work without a break. It is important to set schedules and stick to them in order to be able to enjoy free time and maintain a work-life balance.

A fundamental tool for being a successful digital nomad is to use time management apps. There are many available that can help us plan our day and keep us focused on important tasks. We work with Clockify, a time tracker and timesheet app that allows you to keep track of working hours on all projects. It’s a great way to maximise our time and be more efficient at work. We also recommend Trello and Notion for task organisation and project management in teams.

  • Clear your mind

Maintaining a routine of exercise, meditation or other physical activity can help us to stay focused and maintain physical and mental wellbeing. It’s easy to get lost in work when we’re at home or in a new place, but keeping a routine can be a great way to keep our bodies and minds healthy and ready for any challenges that come our way.

  • Work together!

It is important to remember that remote work does not mean working alone all the time. To avoid isolation, it is recommended that you try to get out of your home or workplace from time to time and socialise with other people. For example, you could join social networking groups or online remote work communities and attend events and meetings that may be of interest to you.

Another option could be to find a coworking space near your home or in the city you are visiting. Coworking spaces are a great way to connect with other professionals and work in a more social and collaborative environment.

In relation to the latter, we would like to recommend some cafés and coworking spaces for digital nomads in Buenos Aires, more specifically in Capital Federal.
